How to Promote Your Business Using LinkedIn

Many businesses are turning to social media to help market their business. If you are looking for new strategies to promote your business, here are some of the top strategies to enhance your business using LinkedIn.

Today, many businesses are turning to social media to promote their business.  However, some may be hesitant or shy away from the use of social media for many reasons.  While many use Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites to promote their business, there is another option if you are looking for a social media site that is strictly for business.   LinkedIn is a great choice for promoting your business and networking with other professionals.

I was recently invited to use LinkedIn, but I wasn't sure how worked.  I have heard people refer to it as a "professional Facebook."  As a freelance writer, I have heard from many sources that writers  especially should promote themselves on social media sites. We often hear about the dangers of using social media and for this reason many are reluctant to use it.  I personally still have some mixed feelings about social media despite its benefits.  This leaves many this question; are there any real benefits for using social media to promote your business?

Create a Business Profile

The first thing to do after signing up for LinkedIn is to set up your profile page.  In addition to your company’s profile, LinkedIn provides additional features to help enhance your company’s profile and to find out more about your company and what it has to offer.

Connect with Other Users

Like Facebook and Twitter, LinkedIn users can connect with other users, friends, and colleagues.  You can share information with your contacts.  LinkedIn groups enable you to share information, ask and answer questions.

Look out for Other Users

After building your business profile, connect with other users and add new members to your profile.  The Outlook toolbar is one of the most effective tools that can help you automatically  add new contacts to your profile.  For instance, if you are a Facebook user, there is a feature that scans your personal email address book to help you find out who is also using the site.  The Outlook toolbar uses this similar method to help you find out if  any of your contacts are already using LinkedIn. 

Promote Your Company’s Product and Services

By using the LinkedIn services tab, you can promote your product and or services.  You would need to fill out a questionnaire for each item in order to use this tool.  This features gives you an option to upload a photo along with the product or services in which you are promoting.

LinkedIn profiles feature job descriptions, special skills, resumes, and other campnay details are what you will find on LinkedIn profiles.  You should keep your LinkedIn contacts up to date on discounts, specials, promotions, and any other newsworthy information.

LinkedIn is not only a useful resource for professional networking but it is also a great resource to help you promote your business. Although Facebook, Twitter, other similar sites are great for networking and business promotion, it may seem that your contacts are more interested in what's going on in everyone's lives. In this case some may create seperate pages strictly for business promotion.  If LinkedIn is your choice, In order to fully benefit from your LinkedIn experience, you must take advantage of the advanced features it has to offer.
